Beirut Friday prayer leader called on Lebanese authorities to take country out of political tensions

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, Rabi II 24th 1435 H. – February, 14th 2014. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.Following is a summary:The First SermonIn the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about corruption. He explained that it does not happen abruptly. It develops throughout time, and then it appears when a certain chance arises. At that moment, it will be revealed that the deviated has chosen his own interests or has become an enemy of the cause. To avoid this, one should always work on his soul. This work should be preventive and continuous, and one should always check what is going inside his inner conscience. The believer should not only profess that Allah is but one. He should also be righteous and follow the straight path that Allah has set; the path of justice fairness, and truthfulness. This righteousness should include our minds, which should not accept false, backward and mythical thoughts. It should also include our hearts that should be filled with love only. It should also include our intentions, which should be pure and not hypocrite. Moreover, it should include our desires, which should be restricted to what Allah has made lawful…The second sermonIn the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about the explosions that targeted the innocent civilians in Lebanon. He praised the role of the Army in unveiling some of them, and called on all citizens to help it in performing this role.He also called on the political leadership who valued the role of the Army not to be contented with supporting statements. They should play their role in taking the country out of the atmosphere of political tensions, by adopting balanced political discourses and enabling all institutions, starting with the government, to perform their duties. It is high time that the country gets out of the state of killing time, which we believe that it is not the outcome of a regional or international atmosphere, as much as it actually expresses certain interests that some find essential to their existence, sect, political positions or inspirations. This stage needs big men who put their private interests aside for the sake of the country. Moreover, if some see that getting out of this security tunnel needs a political review, we call on all parties to take part in this review that should be aimed at protecting the country from anything that might threaten its security. The Sayyed added: “On this day, we commemorate the sad occasion of the assassination of the former Prime Minster, Rafiq Al-Hariri, which had its repercussions on the entire stage. Although the Lebanese differed in their evaluation of the stage he ruled in, they have all agreed over the general principles that laid the foundations of his policies, such as strengthening the unity of Muslims and national unity, reviving the economy and reconstruction, enabling the Lebanese to be strong in the face of the challenges that face them, opening up to the Arab and Muslim world and building the bridges of communication with the world. We want these principles to be the foundation on which the internal Lebanese relations are based. We also want justice to be served away from any political calculations.”On the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Resistance leaders, the Sayyed explained that we want this occasion to deepen the belief in the role of the Resistance in fighting the Zionist Enemy…Being loyal to these martyrs’ lies in being aware of the plots of the Enemy that is continuing to judaize Palestine and is still aggressing against Lebanon. On another level, the Sayyed said that the door to finding solutions to the Syrian crisis has not been opened yet by the decision-makers. Nevertheless, he hoped that the Syrians will take a bold decision and find out a solution on their own.The Sayyed ended by saluting the Iranian Islamic revolution, and he highly appreciated the new policy of opening up to the Arab and Muslim worlds, especially Saudi Arabia, that the Islamic Republic has undertaken, calling on the others to receive it with a similar openness./149
